Jobs that fall into the category of beauty, personal care, personal care, or cosmetology are known as esthetic jobs. This includes hairdressers, barbers, skin technicians, nail and pedicure technicians, and those who offer spa treatments such as massage and aromatherapy. There are several different beauty jobs, but they generally fall into one of the following categories: hair, skin, nails, spa treatments.
Hair

Aesthetic jobs that fall into the hair category are usually hairdressers and barbers. Hairdressers wash, color, cut, and style hair. Barbers generally work on men, washing, cutting, and styling hair, as well as shaving and trimming beards and facial hair. Hairdressers may specialize in cutting, coloring, perming, or styling. Some hairdressers work in salons, some work from home, and some work in multiple locations, servicing models, actors, or television personalities. Some hairdressers and barbers may expand traditional services to include massage and other relaxation techniques to enhance the styling experience.
Skin

Aesthetic jobs in skin care often involve facials, unwanted hair removal, and other treatments to combat dry or oily skin. A skin care specialist may work in a salon or spa, in a dermatologist’s office, or in a private practice. One of the most popular hair removal treatments right now is laser hair removal, so this is a particularly great area to develop. Skin care technicians who work for dermatologists or plastic surgeons may wish to continue their education to become licensed paramedical estheticians. Licensed paramedical estheticians see patients undergoing surgery before and after the procedure.
Nails

Nail care is another focus of aesthetic work. Some specialize in manicures, some do pedicures, and some do both. A nail technician might spend the day doing a manicure, applying false nail tips, brushing designs onto your toenails or toenails, or giving yourself a pedicure. Again, nail technicians can work in a salon, spa, or in their private practice.

Spa services are probably the largest category of beauty jobs. There are many types of spa treatments available and estheticians working for spas can prepare clients for mud bath treatments, use aromatherapy to relax or revitalize clients, use various massage methods, apply hot stones, hydrate, detoxify or any other treatment. Some estheticians who provide this type of treatment do so as an extension of their main focus, such as hairdressing, and some offer exclusive treatments exclusively.
