What is a dressing room?

The first step that we are going to take to delve into the term clothing that interests us now is to determine its etymological origin. Specifically, when doing so, we will find that it comes from Latin and more precisely from the word travere, which can be translated as “clothes”.

The wardrobe is the set of clothes that covers the body. The term can be used as a synonym for dress. For example: “I haven’t chosen the outfit for tonight yet”, “Your mother always stands out for her elegant outfit”, “I think I don’t have the right outfit for this occasion. Another use of the concept is linked to the set of costumes used for a stage performance: “What I liked most about the play was the costumes of the actors”, “The Argentine designer was awarded on Broadway for the costumes of a successful play” , “I regret to inform you that tonight’s performance will be canceled due to wardrobe problems. ”

In the field of theater or cinema, costumes become one of the most important areas to ensure that the narrated plot and the protagonists who interpret it are fully credible. But not only that. Throughout history there have been a series of characters who basically made their wardrobe their hallmark, the one that characterized them and made them unique. Thus, a clear example of the latter can be certain superheroes such as Spider-Man or Batman who differ from others precisely because of the suit they wear and even figures such as Charlotte, who has always used her black bowler hat and her cane. Due to this value of costumes, in the different prizes that are awarded, for example, within the cinematographic field, such as the Oscar or the Goya, there are those that are attributed precisely to the professionals who designed the costumes for the different productions. The costume can be a costume that contributes to the characterization of the characters, but also a habitual or everyday outfit. In the news, the wardrobe is made up of suits, jackets and ties, garments that are also worn on the street. Likewise, in the military field the term clothing is also used. When appropriate, it is used to refer to the entire set of uniforms that soldiers and the rest of the people who are part of any troop, division or platoon have. In stadiums, fields, clubs or swimming pools, the locker room is the space to change clothes: “The team has not yet left the locker room although the referee is already on the field”, “I go to the locker room to put on my uniform and come back”, “Are you looking for John? He is in the locker room, changing his clothes. By extension, the set of players that make up a sports team is usually known as a locker room: “The locker room is revolutionized with the arrival of the new coach”, “The Portuguese have great experience and know how to manage the locker room”, “The manager supported in the locker room and will continue to function.
