If we want to determine the etymological origin of the term union, which we are now going to analyze in depth, we must clarify that it comes from Latin. More exactly, it emanates from the word inus, which can be translated as “one”.
Union is the action and effect of joining or uniting (joining, combining, tying or joining two or more things to form a whole, whether physical or symbolic). For example: “The workers’ union is fundamental to avoid exploitation by the bosses”, “Three local clubs have agreed on a union to compete in the national tournament with a single team”, “The union between European countries has withdrawn the power of the United States.” State”. The concept of union is often used to denote the action and effect of the union in marriage, either in the eyes of God (the religious union) or before the institutions of the State (the civil union).
The agreement of wills or efforts is also known as union. In this sense, unity is linked to solidarity: “Unity is strength” is a popular phrase that refers to the power that people achieve when they work together to achieve a common goal. Likewise, we cannot ignore the term customs union. It is usually used to refer to the meeting and collaboration of two different countries with the clear objective of reaching an agreement on economic issues. Specifically, what is intended with them is to establish measures to end the different restrictions on trade between the two, thus betting on a single and common tariff policy. La Unión is, on the other hand, the name of one of the most important musical groups in the history of Spain. In 1984 it was when this formation began its journey, framed in the pop and rock genres, which is led by the singer Rafa Sánchez. There are eighteen albums that launched it on the market, achieving great successes with songs such as “El hombre lobo en París”, “Maracaibo”, “Black is black”, “Vuelve el amor” or “Sildavia”. In the UK there is a musical group called Yes. “Union” is the title of the best-known album by this band, which is defined by its commitment to so-called progressive rock. In addition to all this, we have to point out that throughout the world there are many cities and municipalities that have the name of União. Thus, we find some in countries like Argentina or Paraguay. The union is, instead, the composition resulting from the mixture of certain things that are incorporated together: “The union between blue and yellow results in the color green”, “The dough of this cake implies the union of flour and water , sugar and two eggs”.
