The Host and the Qualifying Teams

South Africa is the host of this upcoming event where they qualified during the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Tournament. The countries that automatically qualified to compete in the event include Sri Lanka, West Indies, England, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, and India. Ireland and Bangladesh were the finalists in the 2020 tournament and are now able to compete in the 2023 installation.

The event pits female professional cricket players against one another to see which country comes out on top. In a battle of vigor and strength, the players practice the entire year to perfect their sporty craft. 

Australia won in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020 with three runs, four runs, six wickets, eight wickets, and 85 runs more respectively. England won the first tournament in 2009 by 6 wickets and the West Indies won the 2016 tournament by eight wickets.

2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Matchups

Here are the match lineups with locations and dates. 

Group A

South Africa will go against Sri Lanka on February 10th at Newlands Cricket Ground located in Capetown. Australia will take on New Zealand at Boland Park in Baal on February 11th. The next day will be Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka back at the Newlands Cricket Ground. 

On February 13th, South Africa and New Zealand will go head-to-head at Boland Park. At St. George’s Park Cricket Ground in Gqeberha on February 14th, Australia and Bangladesh will go toe-to-toe to see who’s the best. 

No match will take place on February 15th. The following day will be Sri Lanka versus Australia at St. George’s Park Cricket Ground. On the 17th, New Zealand will be pitted against Bangladesh at Newlands Cricket Ground. 

Australia and South Africa will face off on February 18th at St. George’s Park Cricket Ground. The next day, Sri Lanka and New Zealand will battle it out at Boland Park. There will be no match-up on February 20th. On the 21st, South Africa and Bangladesh will face off at Newlands Cricket Ground. 

Group B

The Group B faceoffs will be as follows:

On February 11th England is scheduled to face off against the West Indies women’s cricket team at Boland Park. The next day, Pakistan and India will face off at Newlands Cricket Ground. 

Ireland and England will go against each other at Boland Park on February 13th. There will be no matchups on February 14th. On the following day, there will be two matchups of India versus West Indies and Ireland versus Pakistan at Newlands Cricket Ground.

No matchups will occur on February 16th. Ireland and West Indies are scheduled as the matchup for February 17th at Newlands Cricket Ground. On the 18th and 20th, there will be matchups at St George’s Park Cricket Ground with England versus India and Ireland versus India respectively. 

The last matchup at Boland Park will be on February 19th pitting West Indies and Pakistan against one another. The final match for Group B will take place on February 21st at Newlands Cricket Ground with Pakistan and England facing off. 

Knockout Stage

The two semi-finalists from each group will face over two matches on February 23rd and 24th. Finally, on February 26, 2023, the one semi-finalist from Group A and Group B will face off to declare the final winner of the tournament.
