Mexican snacks consist mainly of snacks. The most common types include flakes or husks made from corn or flour. This includes tortilla chips, quesadillas, nachos, and taquitos, all of which are often made or served with a spicy dressing or sauce. Another type of Mexican snack is a nut mix consisting of walnuts, spiced pine nuts, and pumpkin seeds.

A nacho dip can be made by layering ground beef with taco seasoning, refried beans, chunky salsa, and shredded taco cheese. The sauce can be baked in the oven and topped with onions, jalapeños, and sour cream. The dip can be made with tortilla chips.
The tortillas can also be placed side by side on a baking sheet so they don’t touch and then topped with onions and jalapeños. Cheese can be sprinkled on top and French fries can be baked. The chips are separated from each other so there is less grease and the coatings stay in place. Sour cream, salsa, or guacamole can be used for dipping.
Popular appetizer dips include guacamole.
Taquitos, also known as “taquitos”, are another type of traditional Mexican appetizer. The meat is placed in corn tortillas, rolled into a tube shape, and then fried to harden. Tortillas can be filled with pulled pork, pulled chicken, or ground beef. If a fryer is not available, the tortilla can be greased with oil and placed on a baking sheet and baked in the oven. The flautas are made the same way, but with flour tortillas instead of the corn tortillas used for the taquitos.

One of the most popular Mexican snacks, quesadillas are extremely easy to prepare with grated cheese and tortillas. Flour tortillas work best and the cheese should be taco mix or a combination of shredded cheddar and jack cheese. Quesadillas can also include ingredients like marinated steak, grilled chicken, or even shrimp or salmon. Typical garnishes for these Mexican snacks include onions, red and green bell peppers, and bacon. Popular dipping sauces include guacamole, salsa, and sour cream.
