What beverages do people drink the most in the United States?

In the United States, carbonated soft drinks are the most popular type of beverage. On average, each American drinks about 45 gallons (about 170 liters) of soda a year. Since a can of soda has 12 fluid ounces (about 355 ml), this equates to about 1.25 cans of soda per day. The second most consumed beverage in the United States is bottled water, followed by beer, milk, and coffee. Despite the popularity of these other beverages, consumption of soft drinks in the US is about twice that of coffee and beer combined.
