Douches are sometimes used to help flush out the vagina, and a baking soda douche is simply a small amount of baking soda dissolved in water. Some women believe that douching can help them conceive a boy or cure a yeast infection. Many medical professionals, on the other hand, strongly discourage the use of any type of douche.

To prepare a shower, you can mix a small tablespoon of baking soda in a glass of distilled water. This water should be warm, but not hot, to help dissolve the baking soda. Using hot water for showering can cause severe burns. When the soda dissolves completely, it can be used to fill a douche bag or bottle. The cases are usually nothing more than soft rubber bulbs that, when squeezed, expel water. Typically, a tube is also attached to a shower bag and a plastic or rubber nozzle is attached to the other end of the tube.
To rinse the vagina, the woman must first be sitting or standing in the bath or shower. She can also sit on the toilet if she finds it more comfortable. The nipple at the end of the tube can be inserted into her vagina.
