Suppose there is a rumor about the resignation of a club president. Several newspapers and magazines publish information about it, citing different sources. However, when giving a press conference, the director expresses: “I want to categorically deny that I am going to resign. There is no possibility of leaving the club before the end of my mandate. I have a commitment that I do not intend to break for anything in the world. Given these words, journalists can refer to a resounding denial by the president of the institution.
On the other hand, if the same coach had said “For now I am not going to give any statement about it, I am analyzing the situation and I will make the best decision for the club. In the next few days I will have news to announce”, it could not be said that it is a clear definition of the president, since it leaves many doors open. What is blunt is always conclusive and explicit. In recent times, in Spain, the term that concerns us now has been used frequently. Specifically, it has been used within the field of politics to refer to the position of certain party leaders who were absolutely reluctant to agree with other parliamentary groups, which led to the need to repeat the general elections. Thus, for example, we can say that Pablo Iglesias, leader of Podemos, adopted a forceful position by stating that he had no intention of reaching an agreement with Ciudadanos so that Pedro Sánchez, leader of the PSOE, could become president of congress. forceful and absolutely negative that Sánchez himself later expressed and established to prevent Mariano Rajoy, leader of the PP, from reaching the presidency basically because of the alleged cases of corruption that occurred within his group.
