Vello is a concept that has its etymological origin in the Latin word vilo. The term refers to hair that grows in certain regions of the body and is softer and less extensive than beard hair and hair.
Human body hair covers most of the body. It is made up of very fine hair fibers that usually grow after puberty due to the action of androgens, which are male sex hormones. This makes hair more abundant in men than in women. In adulthood, a human’s body may be covered with hair everywhere except the soles of the feet, the palms of the hands, and mucous membranes (such as the lips). However, the presence of hair varies from person to person.
Hair that grows in the genital area is known as pubic hair, while underarm hair is called underarm hair. In men, on the other hand, chest hair (between the abdomen and neck) and abdominal hair (between the genital area and the abdomen) grow a lot. When the transition from childhood to puberty occurs, this and other changes in the body can affect people in different ways: while some like to have finally taken the first step towards the long-awaited adulthood, others feel ashamed and wish that no one I have noticed. While from an adult’s point of view it’s okay to have body hair, a tween’s perception is very different. Depending on culture and individual preferences, people have different attitudes toward body hair. Many Latin American women, for example, choose to shave their pubic and underarm hair, removing it with a razor, wax, or other methods. In different European countries, on the other hand, women freely grow armpit hair. In the case of men, body hair was a symbol of virility for a long time, although today there are people who prefer to shave their chest and back for aesthetic reasons. The search for sexual freedom and an open mind leads us down paths that seemed impossible even a few decades ago, and the fact that men shave their bodies with wax is one of them. Just as the presence of hair on the chest should not be related to virility, its absence should not indicate the opposite, which is why many people accept that each one adapts the body to their hygiene needs or aesthetic tastes.
Some people choose to avoid shaving as it is more violent, requires more effort and, according to some, encourages harder hair growth. The problem begins when we show that women have not acquired more freedom, but are still under the impositions of men, both those who keep their chest hair and those who shave: they cannot choose to let their bodies be covered with hair as well as them. Do not neglect the figure or show off the natural color of your hair. Or if? Few people seem to be able to say that they are comfortable with their physical appearance and confident in their choices in clothing and hairstyles. It seems so valid to say that no one should alter their body to make themselves attractive, quite the opposite; And since in these questions the balance of good and evil is not presented, the search for the “right path” is practically useless.
