What is the tactic?

The tactic is the system or method developed to execute a plan and achieve a certain objective. The term is also used to designate the ability to apply such a system.

The tactic helps to order the resources in search of an end. In this way, the margin of error is reduced, since spontaneous or unexpected actions are minimized and what has already been practiced and trained can be put into practice. It is worth mentioning that the concept was born in the military field. In this sense, military tactics is the plan that implies the execution of what is established by the strategy. These two words (tactics and strategy) are often used synonymously, although strategy is a scheme put in place to try to achieve goals and tactics is the planned way of achieving those goals.

For example, the objective of a war is to conquer enemy territory. The strategy may consist of besieging the region to prevent the arrival of aid, while the tactics used include specific actions such as bombing bridges or laying mines on roads. Over time, the concept of tactics spread beyond the military realm. Today it is possible to talk about tactics in sports, games, negotiations and economics. When talking about tactics in football, one thinks, among other things, of a certain arrangement of the players on the field, represented numerically as 4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc. In basketball, on the other hand, the tactic is linked to certain plays designed by the coach to be executed during the match. TEG TEG is the abbreviated name of the Strategic and Tactical War Plan board game created in Argentina and launched on the market in 1976. It is based on a military confrontation that takes place between 50 imaginary countries, located on a map very similar to ours. When a game begins, all the territories must be distributed among the players, who will occupy them with pieces of different colors. Each participant receives a card (which they must not show to the others) that specifies the objective to be pursued throughout the game. At the same time, there is a common goal which is to seize power in 30 countries. Whoever manages to complete any of these tasks first becomes the winner.

At first glance, it might seem like an imitation of the popular Risk, published by today’s Hasbro in the 1950s; However, they have 3 very specific differences: * in TEG, each player has a number of tokens to use on each turn equal to half the number of countries he has when a round begins (if the number is odd, it is considered the first in descending order); * The TEG battle is based on a system of three dice to attack to defend against three, giving victory to the defense in case of a tie, which increases the chances of success of the latter. Risk, on the other hand, allows three attack dice against two defense dice, increasing the chances of the attackers and at the same time reducing the time of each game; * both products feature country cards with three icons: ship, cannon and globe. TEG allows you to exchange them when you manage to combine trios, that of each class and the number of troops to exchange increases with each exchange. In Risk, by combining three different cards you receive two armies; if all three are equal, instead, the military hierarchy on the card determines the number of troops.
