What is threshing?

Trillo is a concept derived from the Latin word tribŭlum. The term refers to the device used for threshing.

It should be noted that, according to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), the action of threshing consists of crushing the harvest that is in its time and separating the grains from the straw. Before proceeding with the definition of a path, it is convenient to clarify other notions. The cereal that contains the seeds used to make bread is called mies. The season, in turn, is the sector of solid and clean land that is used for threshing.

With these clear ideas, it is easy to understand what a trail is. This instrument is a kind of table with blades or cutting stones on one side. The use of threshing, in short, enables threshing. Thanks to its trapezoidal or rectangular design, with a curved face and blades or stones on the other, it allows the separation of grains and straw. There are different types of threshing. While some barely reach a meter and a half in length, others reach two meters. The blinds also have variable measures according to each model. To fulfill its function, it is common for the threshing machine, being pulled by loaded animals, to be where the crops are distributed. Oxen or mules carry this tool, which cuts the straw and separates the seeds as they pass. Then the banal is stacked in one place and finally cleaned. As a proper name, Trillo is a municipality of Guadalajara, a province of Spain that is located near the center of the country, towards the northeast. Trillo is located next to the Tagus River, the largest in the entire peninsula: it runs from east to west through its center, with a slight slope to the southwest, especially when it reaches Portugal, where it receives the name of Tejo. Trillo is also located in La Alcarria, a natural region that occupies practically the entire center and south of Guadalajara, southeast of Madrid and northwest of Cuenca. Its population exceeded 1,300 inhabitants in 2017. In its heraldic shield you can see a golden castle on a golden mountain, in the upper part; At the bottom you can see a silver bridge under which the water passes. The antiquity of Trillo is considerable: during the time of the Roman Empire there was a population of relative importance, located between the territories of Carpetânia and Celtiberia. Its consolidation took place after the Reconquest, when it was integrated into the Vila e Tierra de Atienza Common.

In 1325 the Infante Don Juan Manuel, a writer belonging to the royal house of great importance in the prose of the Middle Ages, was in charge of the construction of the castle of Trillo, which stands out in the center of the municipality. Two centuries later his churches of Azañón and Morillejo were erected, and an era began in which his city prospered. On the other hand, the term threshing is used in everyday speech as a synonym for overusing a word, phrase, or idea to the point that it ceases to be special or surprising. It is very common to find it in the field of cinema or television, to refer to a formula that has been used many times, usually because the producers know that the public always welcomes it with open arms. Instead of the verb, the participle is usually used: “This topic is very banal. “
