The first thing we are going to do, before entering into the complete clarification of the meaning of the term vision, is to determine its etymological origin. Specifically, we can say that it derives from Latin, specifically from “visus”, which can be translated as “seen” and which in turn emanates from the verb “videre” (to see).
Vision is the sense that allows, through light, to perceive bodies with the eyes. It is one of the five human senses along with taste, touch, smell and hearing. When light rays hit the eyes, vision can interpret them. The eyes are the organs that receive light impressions on the retinas and are responsible for their transmission to the brain through the optic pathways. The process and result of seeing can be called vision or vision.
For example: “The reflection of the sun affected my vision and I ended up falling”, “Since I was born I had vision problems, that’s why I always wore glasses”, “A blind man recovered his sight thanks to the implantation of a chip”. Among the animals considered to have the best vision are the Australian mantis shrimp, the eagle and cats. When it comes to night vision, however, it is established that the species that have it are hyenas, owls, barn owls and even some snakes. The idea of vision is also used in reference to the possibility of having a large field of vision or enjoying something that is considered beautiful: “The watchman climbed the tower to have a better view”, “The view from the balcony is incredible : you can see the whole bay”, “From the point of view there is a privileged view”. The expression “Hasta la vista”, on the other hand, is used as a greeting and is linked to the possibility of a future meeting between two or more people: “Hasta la vista! I hope to see you here next week, at the same time.” Phrases such as “at first glance” or “at first glance” refer to a superficial observation, which lacks depth: “The doctor said that, at first glance, there is no bone injury”, “At first glance, I could say that the A man committed suicide by throwing himself out of his bedroom window. In the cinema we find films that use expressions like these in their titles. A clear example is the film “Hasta la vista”, which premiered in 2011 and is directed by Geoffrey Enthoven. It is a group of young people with different disabilities and patients who dream of living an adventure together and without the company of anyone else. The purpose of this trip is none other than to discover love and sex. In addition, there is also the feature film “At First Sight”, presented in 1999 and starring Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino. Directed by Irwin Winkler, it tells the love story between a blind masseuse and an architect. A relationship that will be so strong that together they will do everything possible for him to recover his sight.
