Blessing is a word with Latin roots from the word “benedictio” or “benedictionis”, divided into “bene” meaning “good”, “decire” meaning “say” and the suffix “cion” for action and effect. Blessing is the action and effect of blessing, and all meanings can be said to be related to each other.
Another of them is attributed to the Pope or Supreme Pontiff, to the bishops, pastors, etc. when on ceremonial days they make the sign of the cross three times while the three persons of the trinity are named. This happens in the Catholic religion, where this word plays a fundamental role, as it is widely used by its devotees and faithful to express the best wishes for a person.
This term also speaks of the nuptial blessings that are the ceremonies that are consecrated at the time of marriage. It is also known as a blessing the set or group of words with which a person is asked or interceded for an entity or, in many cases, God, the virgin or a saint to provide protection to that person. It also functions as a vow or offering to God or any other divine entity. And so, the protection provided by a supreme being like the ones mentioned above is called a blessing.
Another of its many uses works when something receives full approval and acceptance. Or to express that something is very good or brings joy, hope, delight or joy. In many cultures, this term is used when a child asks to be blessed by his or her father.
