The mouth is the first component of the digestive system, in which food is introduced and chewed with the help of the teeth. It is located in the lower part of the face, a few centimeters from the chin; This opening is projected due to the presence of the lips, external constituents of the mouth.

The internal organs are responsible for helping in the pronunciation of words, more specifically, of some sounds that otherwise could not be produced. It has a very important role, because in addition to contributing to the feeding process, it also interferes with the way it is perceived by the outside world; this for the expressions that are made with the lips.

It houses the tongue, an organ devoid of bone formations and whose movement is possible thanks to the presence of seventeen muscles, which participate in the swallowing of food, in addition to the perception of the flavors it provides. The teeth, arranged in a semicircular row, are located in the lower and upper part, inserted in the gum; They have a series of nerves and bone roots that keep them firm for most of the wearer’s life. The tonsils are organs that are located on the sides of the throat, in the back of the mouth, which, on some occasions, are removed due to a minor health problem that they cause.

The mucosa of the mouth can vary depending on the area observed; You can find three types of it, the coating (covers most of the oral cavity), chewing (in contact with bone tissue) and specialized (participates in capturing flavors). The oral cavity has 5 walls, the anterior (lips), the lateral wall (cheeks), the inferior wall of the tongue, the superior wall (palate) and the posterior wall (isthmus of the fauces). Finally, the mouth is the orifice through which sound waves (called voice) are emitted and, with the help of various organs within it, oral communication is achieved.
