What is agricultural technology?

The idea of ​​technology refers to the knowledge and devices that allow the practical application of scientific knowledge. Agriculture, in turn, is linked to livestock (raising and marketing livestock) and agriculture (the activity that consists of growing crops).

The concept of agricultural technology, therefore, refers to the knowledge, techniques and artifacts that allow the use of technological elements in livestock and agricultural tasks. Agricultural technology ranges from different types of machines to laboratory work that makes it possible to increase the efficiency of these activities.

Suppose a family living in a rural setting has three dairy cows. Every day, the man manually milks the cows, depositing the milk in a bucket that he takes to the fridge (fridge or refrigerator). To improve productivity and milk quality, he decides to invest in agricultural technology. Thus, he acquires a milking machine (milking machine) that automatically extracts the milk from the cows and, through sealed passages, transfers it to already cooled containers. A farmer who used to irrigate his crops with irrigation can also include farming technology by installing a drip irrigation system. Thus, you will no longer need to go through the plantations with a watering can, but you will have to limit yourself to managing the installed system. Periodically, we discover new devices and technologies that appear on the market and that account for the advances that occur in the agricultural area. A good example of this is, for example, the LEMOS system that is incorporated into certain combines and allows them to carry out their work for twenty hours uninterrupted and at a good pace. Agricultural technology, on a large scale, allows important advances in the economic and commercial structure of a territory. Therefore, it is common for governments to promote technological development for agriculture and livestock through various agencies. The technology that concerns us is so important today that we can find entities that revolve around it. This would be the case, for example, of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) that exists in Argentina and, of course, depends on the Ministry of Agroindustry. It was created in the 1950s, but it has been in the last decades when it has reached a more than remarkable development, becoming an organization of great importance in its country. In this sense, we can say that it is currently considered a benchmark due to the progress it has made and the vanguard it represents in this sector.

Among its most notable objectives are to act as an engine of development in the agricultural field, promote cooperation between different institutions, design initiatives to improve competitiveness or prioritize the sustainability of the different territories of the nation. Precisely for all this, within its structure there are other equally relevant bodies that help it achieve these goals. This would be the case, for example, of the Agricultural Research Center (CIAP) or the Agroindustry Research Center (CIA).
